Customer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI) Policy

What Is CPNI?

Customer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI) is information that SimpleFiber Communications LLC collects as a result of providing you with telecommunications and VoIP services. It includes:

  • The types of telecommunications services you subscribe to
  • The quantity of service you use (minutes, data, lines)
  • Technical configuration of the services (number of lines, features enabled, hosted extensions)
  • Calling records — the phone numbers you call and the numbers that call you, including duration and time of call
  • Billing information related to these services

CPNI does not include your name, address, or publicly available directory information. It does not include the content of your calls — SimpleFiber does not record or listen to your calls except as required for customer-support troubleshooting with your explicit consent.

How CPNI Is Protected

Federal law — specifically 47 CFR § 64.2001 through § 64.2011 — requires SimpleFiber to protect your CPNI and limits when and how we can use or share it. We:

  • Authenticate you before discussing account details by phone using pre-established passwords, one-time codes sent to the phone number on file, or verification via our online portal
  • Do not release call detail records over the phone without verifying your identity using a method you pre-established
  • Notify you immediately (by voice call, text, or email, as you prefer) whenever your password or account-access credentials are changed
  • Train our customer-service team annually on CPNI compliance and have disciplinary processes for violations
  • File an annual CPNI compliance certification with the FCC, as required by 47 CFR § 64.2009(e)

How We Use CPNI

Without your separate consent, we use your CPNI only to:

  • Provide and bill for the services you subscribe to
  • Offer you additional services within the same category you already subscribe to (for example, if you have VoIP, we may offer you an additional voice line)
  • Protect our rights and property, prevent fraud, and comply with legal process
  • Provide inbound marketing or customer-support responses when you contact us

Marketing Use — Your Right to Opt Out

If SimpleFiber wants to use your CPNI to market services outside the category you subscribe to — for example, marketing SimpleFiber Security Cameras to a voice-only customer — we must first get your permission.

You may opt out of any such marketing use of your CPNI at any time by contacting us at:

We honor opt-out requests within 14 business days. Opting out does not affect any service you subscribe to; it only restricts our ability to market outside-category services to you.

Sharing With Third Parties

SimpleFiber does not sell your CPNI. We share it only:

  • With our contractors and agents who need it to provide, install, maintain, or bill for service (under strict contractual confidentiality obligations)
  • With other carriers when you port a number or when your call transits their network
  • When compelled by lawful process (subpoena, court order, warrant) — and we will notify you unless the process itself prohibits such notice
  • When you give us written or verified verbal consent to share for a specific purpose

Breach Notification

In the event of an unauthorized disclosure of your CPNI, we will notify law enforcement as required by 47 CFR § 64.2011 and notify you by your preferred contact method within the timeframes required by law (typically within seven business days).

Retention

Call-detail CPNI is retained for up to 18 months from the date of the call, which is the minimum retention period required for regulatory and billing-dispute purposes. Account-configuration CPNI is retained for the duration of your service plus 18 months. You may request deletion of CPNI not required for legal or regulatory compliance by emailing privacy@simplefiber.com.
